Jehovah's Witnesses seem to think that Colossians 1:15 means that Jesus was born or is the first created being. How would you help them understand the correct meaning of this verse?

 

Im not a witness, but i cant help but to wonder why would you ask to define a scripture that is not cryptic or hard to understand analogies? Its pretty straightforward. It literally states Jesus was Gods first creation. What else could that mean?

You asked to correct the JW teaching, so Im assuming you want that scripture to prove God is actually Jesus?

For God to be Jesus, that declares God to be a manipulator, liar, and is begging for man to obey him.

Ive never found any such thing in the bible to support that logic.

To say God was so desperate for man to love him so he created a facade of a miraculous messiah that would come, allow himself to be brutalized by man and then pretend to be sacrificing himself for the sake of getting man to worship him.

How could he put on a show of dying but yet he cannot die, hes always been and always will be? Wheres the sacrifice if it was all just pretending to be a man? The bible says he doesn't lie or test you or do evil acts, but hed have to do that to be Jesus.

If God was so disgusted by mans evil ways and practices that he said ENOUGH and wiped out the planet and all things on it (only 8 survive), why would he then say “that didn't work, let me beg”?

The bible says not to rely on our own wisdom because it will not be useful. I try really hard to do this, but it common sense applies here more than a hidden concept that's not really written because scriptures have been dis-contextualized and distorted to insane depths.

A fundamental perception that is still blatantly ignored is What is God's name? All the titles that are used have no bearing on who he is. His name is not known by so many who claim to be obedient. How can you have a relationship if you don't know his name? How can you have a relationship with your creator if you're praising his son? Dint he say not to put anything above him? Labeling Jesus as god by the way of a 3 headed god does exactly that. Jesus made his name known. Yet you do not know it.

Name an culture or religion that says your name means nothing.

You wont find it. You will find the emphasis on what a name is more. A name holds a lot.

Why has god been labeled as LORD Lord or lord? Satan knows how powerful his name is, he manipulated the church to stop using it and its still unknown.

I would say that instead of trying to disprove what is literally written, try reading it at face value and questioning why the church doesn’t teach doctrine but only dogma. Learn and understand what is written, not what is taught in church. be surprised how different the 2 really are.
