Who are the 144,000 Jehovah's Witnesses?
The 144,000 mentioned in the Bible are ones who God has chosen to take from the earth to be co-rulers with Christ in heaven.
They are chosen from a small group of people who, through the ages, have lived and worshipped by the standard that God has set out in the Bible. This choosing started while Jesus was on the earth and has continued to this day.
I would like to add, those who are of the 144,000 "KNOW" who they are- they have a deep yearning & desire to be in Heaven w/ their creator. They do not feel complete as most individuals do -which I liken to feeling "uncomfortable" they know their place is in heaven ruling & also serving Jehovah. Sometimes certain people feel a stronger spiritual connection with God ,more so than most. Offen these people innocently wonder if they are of the anointed . During one Memorial I attended - (my Grandparents were JW's- formerly Catholic) -the speaker discussed this scenario. He stated "If you ever find yourself WONDERING if you could possibly be one of the 144,000, well, ….you aren't". Everyone laughed. The 144,000 are absolutely sure who they are and where they belong. My G-parents had one of the 144,000 in attendance at their congregation- this was exciting for a little girl (me) and I was always trying to sneak a peeek to see him-my GMom would tap my knee , to get me to turn back around out of respect & then she'd pull out her secrete weapon , & I would then turn my attention to the big wad of "Chewing Gum" that she somehow gently put in my mouth before I even realized it. (😂😂😂). The anointed one in this congregation had a quiet demeanor, and an obvious devotion to Jehovah, he did not speak about his position nor was he someone who would brag , he wasnt puffed up with pride or flamboyant. During "Christ's Memorial" which takes place every year; to honor Christ Jesus for the sacrifice and persecution he endured so mankinds sins would be forgiven; Unleavened bread which is symbolic of Christs Body and Wine-which is symbolic of Christs blood is passed row by row and each worshiper in attendance hands the bread, and then the wine to the person next to them.
After Christs resurrection he told his folllowers which includes all Jw's til this very day to "Keep doing this in remembrance of me". No one partakes of these items, EXCEPT -those who are of the 144,000. I would also like to clarify. JW's are baptized when they are adults as opposed to babies. One who wants to be baptized studies the Bible, to gain as much knowledge as possible-and this is not limited to only studying the Bible-I am almost certain that there are many more factors and criteria that has to be met. . Baptism is a proclamation of sorts, it exemplifies that an individual is ready to devote themselves to worshiping their creator, to also speak and teach what they know to those who are interested in learning Gods word, this includes -but is not limited to, those who have ambivalent feelings about the JW religion. The person desiring to be baptized must be strong in their stance and absolutely committed to serving Jehovah. ULTIMATELY this would avoid conveying themselves as a devoted JW during "meetings"("Services") one day- and then returning to the ways of the world the next day.. This is where the term "Hypocrite" comes into play. My "brother and I follow the JW religion, but we were never baptized. We have tattoos, I curse like a sailor, I still disrespect my temple (healthy body" originally) because I smoke-then quit-then pick it up again, we like Harley's and occasional bar stops etc. The one thing we both loathe are "HYPOCRITES" and unless we can get rid of these "worldly" behaviors -we won't get baptized-because we refuse to be hypocrites. Unfortunateky, we were given one mixed message after the other through childhood and we have yet to break that cycle. One month our mom was a JW, & the next month she was practicing witchcraft.I have always heard that one sin is as bad as the other and all sins are equally wrong. However, in my opinion-Witchcraft & Devil worship are the WORST sins one could execute. It's seems extremely "Anti-God" and a total disrespect to our creator. I always speak my truth , please excuse my brassiness. . Our moms actions were really one extreme to the other. My brother and i have become very comfortable with our behaviors , and the commonality that we share. As we became older we have , unfortunately learned -that many of our blood relatives on both of our parents sides , who conveyed theirselves as strong devoted JW's/Christians were textbook examples of what the term "HYPOCRITE" means. I can not express how let down I felt about this! However it sure answered many questions I harbored ! My brother and I, are still in "Sinner mode" albeit not to the extreme that we have witnessed. We only had each other growing up, we are close and often we still enjoy some laughing moment's together, especially when it comes to the family. . It seemed senseless to me , that certain family members feared the Elders. Of course we don't want the Elders to think bad of us, but they are sinners like us . I told my brother "Wow So & so , and he & she -are so afraid that the Elders may find out about their negative behaviors! However, God -who see's EVERYTHING; for example- whether or not they used 2-ply toilet paper, or 4-ply -doesn't even get a mention. I don't know about them, but I SURELY would be a lot more concerned about what my Creator sees me do as opposed to my fellow mankind!" We can't help but to laugh at the thought of this ! iIt dawned on me- these same people are materialistic -this may be a case of "Keeping up with the Joneses.
I had each of my children take part in a Bible Study to instill Bible knowledge and encourage them to form a relationship with God. , I ONLY refer to the JW Religion , My fellow "worldly friends" (🙃) as of lately have been asking me many questions about God, our society's condition, religion , Satan ,the Bible etc. much to my surprise-I have been able to answer their questions, explain scriptures , elaborate on what is meant by certain word usage which tends to be confusing sometimes etc.. then I go and look in the mirror and say to myself "No way did you remember all that! How do you know all that ? Who are you really?" I have to laugh ! My brother knows more than I ever imagined he would, as well! It did make me wonder if my G-Mon added something to the "5 Sticks at a time CHEWING GUM" that I had in my mouth every Sunday" 😂.
LET ME BE CLEAR:
JW's are NOT A CULT, This comes up a lot.
I have brought friends to the Memorial , friends w/ tattoos like myself- guys w/long hair, some in jeans, etc -no one blinked an eye.
JW's do not condone homosexualtiy, however if you walk into a meeting -they do NOT shun you, whisper about you, or stare at you -they have hope that after one (who is gay) gains Bible knowledge , they will make their own decision to obey the Bible's teaching's.
JW's do not Judge because Jehovah says no one has the right to.
"Why did God take ____ so soon _____was so young!
"When it's his/her time -that's it! God calls him/her home"
NO NO & NO! God is the GIVER if LIFE! WHY would he turn around and TAKE that life back?
Just like I told a previous co-worker when she said how much everyone missed me when I left that job >>
Me: "Really? I still can't believe they let me work there!"
I just have to say>>>?
I'm surprised the JW congregation even allows my brother & I to attend the Memorial each year- 🤣🤣🤣. It sure is a blessing though!
