Do atheists realize that since 10,000 years ago, when the Book of Genesis was written, not a single human being has come up with a better answer on where the universe came from or how it was formed?
Oh gosh, “checkmate, atheists!” I just know you’re thinking that. I’m sorry chuckles, but no.
First thing you should probably learn is what an atheist is, and what an atheist isn’t.
An atheist is a person who has no belief in gods.
Period.
That’s it.
That means we do not believe the Genesis story, because all that really says is “goddiddit.”
As for what an atheist isn’t? An atheist isn’t necessarily a cosmologist, or a physicist. We aren’t necessarily astrophysicists or Houston Astros fans. We might be musicians or bartenders or Porsche mechanics. We could be some of those things, none of those things, or all of those things. Regardless, in no case is it because we are atheists, and in most cases, the origin of the universe is irrelevant to our lives.
Oh, and while we don’t know exactly how the universe came to be, there are some very good explanations and possibilities. We’ve cleverly hidden them in books, where you’ll never think to look.
