What would Satan look like to you?

Not only to me, but to the entire world, Satan has been disguising himself for centuries. As of late, Satan very closely resembles almost every mega-church, “Pastor.” I see supposed a shepherd that simulcasts his, “Sermons” to many different church locales, all of them big churches, and many of them mega-churches. He would have a multi-million dollar mansion, which he claims his book sales pay for, and I am ready enough to believe him regarding that. He did say one thing about his son that bothers me to my core My son may not grow up to be a Christian, but he will love rock music. Yet another white, gansta rapper, whose choice of language, and the glorification of that obvious hedonistic lifestyle shouts that there is a problem within that family.

Satan would be peddling a prosperity gospel, and talk about how Jesus loves them, but never call anyone to repentance. He would say things that seem to fit people’s lives, yet never talk about sin, or depravity, or the fact that just by being alive, we need to surrender ourselves, take up our cross, and follow Jesus, because we were born into a sinful and broken world, and we ourselves are both broken and sinful.

Satan would look like one of these hundreds of pastors coercing young women into a secret, improper, sexual relationship, only to have it found out, and blame the victim, calling her a liar, or a slut, or that she wants to dismantle the kingdom these sleazy men build for themselves. Oh, and the board and the elders would cover it up for him.

Satan would preach a gospel that is very mostly true, but he would slip tidbits of another gospel, that people are only too willing to believe. We are told they have itching ears, and that God will cause them to be deceived, or send them a deception. To most, Satan appears to be a great preacher, like we are told, and angel of light.

This is a narrowed view in which I discuss part of the church as it lives and breathes, here in the USA, but also anywhere that Christianity resides. I firmly believe Satan is all of the above, and so much more. Most importantly, we must search our own lives, and our spirits, and our souls to make sure we do not give the evil one a foothold, and when we find that we have sinned against, or offended others, we need to confess (wherever it is that we confess), and go to the person whom we have wronged, and ask to be forgiven. We need to love, despite any circumstance, and we need to forgive as soon as humanly possible, and live at peace as much as we can.

In closing, it is essential that we are aware that when we commit hypocrisy, people outside the church (and some inside) will see Satan in us: our actions, our choice of language, how we treat our children and our wives/husbands. We are not a subculture who is known for our love, yet because we judge, and how we gleefully bury our wounded, rather than work on a plan to get them back in submission to our LORD, and also our elders and pastors.

I hope anyone reading this doesn’t find me trying to break-up or start any argument, but that I gave the answer that was on my heart, and in my mind. Be well, and be blessed.
