What was Africa called in biblical times?

To name an entire continent infers that circumnavigation of Africa had occurred. The Phoencians had apparently done so at the request of the Egyptian pharaoh circa 600 BC. The most compelling evidence is that they recorded traveling west at their furthest point south with the sun on their right. They still called it Libya, although there were names for known regions like Punt, but had not documented any other word other than “afar” meaning dust; ie associated with the dust storms of the Sahara that extended over half of Africa. The Hebrews borrowed that name and used it in their scriptures and writings as Ophir.
