Can dead people hear us talking to them? The answer to this is yes but not in a way that many people think.

Many assume that after death an invisible version of the person lingers nearby, still listening, still aware. But this goes much deeper than that.

See after death nothing remains of the physical body or individual mind. The memories, the personality all of that dissolves. And yet something remains completely untouched and unaffected by any of this, because it was never born in the first place.

That something is consciousness itself. Not yours, not mine but the impersonal background in which all experience arises and then eventually dissolves.

Consider the smartphone that is in your hand right now. On its screen, so many different things can appear. Sometimes quora answers like this one, sometimes YouTube videos, sometimes character in a game. But the screen is never affected by any of these, it simply allows everything to appear and disappear, remaining completely unchanged underneath it all. Consciousness is like that screen and everything whether living or non living is just a temporary appearance in it.

So the main reason the dead can hear us is because in the ultimate reality there is no other. The one who speaks and the one who hears are the same reality. There is never truly a sepration to begin with.
