Which Nazi leader begged for mercy before his execution, and what did he say?
I can tell you one thing, though, those high-ranking Nazi leaders were not as hard as they are portrayed in history books. As soon as they were finally taken and understood that the end was at hand, the so-called tough guy image was gone. As a matter of fact they were and were generally nothing more than scared men.
Who, do you ask, the one who begged, consider Hans Frank. He was an unmerciful person, who did atrocities in Poland. He was transformed by 1946 when he was strangled to the gallows. He turned into a religious fanatic and said he had discovered God in his cell. When he was at the gallows he did not say anything and pleaded with God to have mercy on his soul. It was a prayer of pity, which, as far as others were concerned, he never granted.
Adolf Eichmann was next. He did not merely pray but in 1962, he wrote a letter to the President of Israel saying that he was only a little guy as he was obeying orders. He pleaded with the President not to hang him that it was not his fault. It is ironical that these men are of the opinion that they have power until a rope is placed on their necks. Julius Streicher was even hauled to the gallows trembling and screaming. The thing is that at the moment of the final judgment even the most cruel bullies will be begging to be released.
