If Hitler was forced to sit and watch what was being done to the Jews in Auschwitz and elsewhere, do you think he would have realized what a horrible thing was happening because of him?

When the first Einsatzgruppen started exterminating people in Poland in September 1939, a report was created about their activities.

We know from the minutes of the meeting Hitler had [all meetings were minuted and all documents presented listed] on 5 October 1939, when Himmler presented him with the results of the Einsatzgruppen, that Hitler ordered not to be informed what either the Einsatzgruppen were doing or about what was going on in the concentration camps.

At this point, there were not even extermination camps, yet as early as October 1939 did not want to know what was going on. He also forbade anyone in his presence to ever mention concentration camps in casual conversation.

Henriette Hoffman, the wife of Baldur von Schirach asked Hiler whether he realized what was going on in the camps while she was visiting the Berghof [Hitler's mountain retreat in Bavaria], and she was immediately sent away and never invited again.

Hitler's valet, Heinz Linge, stated after the war that Hitler was always fleeing from reality, doing his utmost best not to hear any bad news.

Now, let me make one thing clear, Hitler could be quite harsh, or pretended to be, when he was personally wronged. It is well known he watched the executions of those who had plotted to kill him repeatedly.

But all in all, Hiler had a problem with facing the results of his own decisions. He could not stand the sight of bombed cities, the curtains of both his train and limousine were always drawn when he had to travel through an area that had suffered from Allied bomb damage.

It is very clear from what we know about Hitler that he did his utmost best not to face the consequences of his actions.
