#DID METHUSELAH REALLY LIVE UP TO 969 YEARS OLD
We now have extensive fossil evidence of humans from paleolithic times through to late biblical times. None of the people whose remains have been uncovered ever lived to such great ages. In fact, any age over 50 years was unusual for commoners. This information confirms that the ages given in the Book of Genesis are mythical. Not only mythical, but based on numerology, using the magic number 17.
In Methuselah’s case, he supposedly became a father at the age of 187, which is
11 X 17, and died at 969, or 57 X 17. It is so statistically unlikely that the oldest man in the Bible became a father on a multiple of 17 years and then died on a multiple of 17 years, that we can dismiss this as pure myth. Once we recognise 969 as a mythical age, we can assert that Methuselah did not live to any great age, if indeed he lived at all.
